COVID-19 - Shelter temporarily closed except for emergencies
(updated April 5)
Your health, ours and that of our animals is our main concern. The shelter is temporarily closed to the public except for the following situations:
- Reclaiming your lost animal
- Care of stray animals in need of immediate care
Please call us before coming to the shelter. No walk-in visits will be accepted for security reasons.
If you are returning from abroad, have been in contact with someone who has contracted COVID-19 or have flu symptoms, we ask that you refrain from coming to the shelter.
The situation remains unpredictable for the weeks, even months to come, here are the measures to be respected to allow us to offer you the best possible service.
Adoptions, volunteer activities, microchipping clinics and CSRM program - suspended until further notice.
Surrenders - suspended, unless in a major emergency to avoid overflowing the shelter and to keep room for animals in need of immediate care.
On-field calls - If you have an animal to be picked up at your home, it is very important to inform us if it comes from a place where people are infected with COVID-19 so that we can take the necessary precautions.
Donations - We no longer accept donations of items or food. Currently, the best way to help the animals in the shelter is to make a monetary donation to the SPCA Roussillon. The needs of our residents do not take a break and your generosity helps us take care of them.
Preventive measures at the shelter
Additional biosecurity protocols have been put in place and will evolve depending on the situation. At the shelter, hand sanitizer has been made available, we encourage you to use it as soon as you arrive.
There is currently no evidence to suggest that pets can be infected with the virus, or that the virus can be transmitted from animals to humans.
We thank you for your usual collaboration and the whole team wishes that you stay healthy!
|For emergencies, contact your local police.|

MICROCHIP CLINICS SUSPENDED FOR AN UNDETERMINED AMOUNT OF TIME
Is your pet microchipped?
To make sure your pet gets identified if lost, equip him with a microchip. It's an electronic chip that's installed under the skin which allows to identify an animal quickly and to contact his owners if he is found. The implantation process is quick and simple, and could save your pet's life!
Come by the shelter with your pet on a Friday between 1pm-4pm for our microchip clinic. The cost is only 25$ for citizens of our partner cities (40$ for other cities, plus taxes). Proof of address required.
