Maui is a beautiful Great Pyrenees mix with a big heart and a strong protective instinct. Unfortunately, he did not have the best start in life, but despite his difficult past, he remains a deeply loyal dog to the people he trusts. He takes his role of protecting his family very seriously — this is part of his nature and not simply a behavior that can be eliminated through training.
For this reason, he is not suitable for the average family or inexperienced owners. His future family will need a good understanding of guardian-breed traits as well as the commitment required for training, structure, and management of his behaviors. He has a history of behavioral challenges, and it is important to understand that while training can improve many aspects and help develop better habits, some genetic or breed-related tendencies cannot be “fixed,” but rather understood and managed.
Maui is looking for a calm family that is not seeking an overly social dog. He would be happiest with people who accept his personality for who he is rather than trying to change him.
