Maximus (Gus Gus) is looking for his forever home! Hello, my name is Maximus, but my friends also call me Gus Gus. I’m an adorable Dachshund mix who is 2 years and 6 months old. When we first meet, I might seem a little shy. It’s not because I don’t like you… I just need a little time to understand that I can trust you. New places, new people, and big changes can feel a little overwhelming for me. I like to take my time and observe before I jump into something new. Once I realize I’m safe, I slowly let go of my worries and show my true self: a calm, affectionate little dog who forms a deep bond with his people. I truly enjoy being close to my humans, and spending quiet moments by their side quickly becomes my favorite part of the day. I may be calm and gentle, but I also love to get out and explore! Walks, new adventures, and spending time with my family are some of my favorite things. I get along well with other dogs and would be happy to share my home with a canine companion. A slow and gradual introduction will be important to help us build a strong and positive bond. I can also live with cats. Because I can be a little timid, I’m looking for a home with children 10 years and older who will understand the importance of respecting my pace and giving me the time I need to feel comfortable.
