SPCA Roussillon is a charitable organization whose mission is to help animals in distress, stray animals, and animals who have been neglected. We provide animal services to more than 38 communities in the region. Families from across Quebec and neighboring provinces visit our adoption centre, which helped more than 2,105 animals find loving homes last year.
Position Summary: We are looking for an individual to join our team as a Customer Service Receptionist. The goal of this position is to provide excellent customer service while contributing to the well-being of the animals.
Description of tasks:
- Follow all shelter biosecurity protocols at all times.
- Warmly welcome members of the public who visit the shelter and respond to their needs.
- Manage the intake of animals brought in by members of the public (owner surrenders, stray animals, animals captured using humane traps, and wildlife).
- Assist members of the public throughout the process of reclaiming their animals.
- Guide potential adopters throughout the adoption process and complete the transaction.
- Ensure that the cat rooms and the room dedicated to small companion animals are properly cleaned and maintained in accordance with established protocols.
- Update the profiles of animals available for adoption.
- Inform, guide, and support volunteers and foster families.
- Actively participate in maintenance, cleaning, and laundry tasks throughout the facility.
- Monitor the general health of cats in the shelter’s cat rooms and report any abnormalities.
- Stock items for sale, ensure their proper presentation, and manage donations received.
- Contribute to the management of the shelter’s social media accounts with the goal of attracting new adopters and promoting animals available for adoption.
- Perform any other related duties associated with the responsibilities of the position or as requested by management.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Training in the animal care or animal welfare field (an asset).
- Availability to work every other weekend.
- Compassionate and respectful attitude toward all types of animals.
- At least one year of relevant experience in a similar position (an asset).
- Strong observational skills, attention to detail, and reliability in carrying out assigned tasks.
- Comfortable working in an environment involving domestic animals, exotic animals, and wildlife.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both French and English, both verbally and in writing, in order to provide quality service to both French- and English-speaking clients.
