SPCA Roussillon is a charitable organization dedicated to helping animals in distress, stray, or neglected. We provide animal services across a territory covering more than 38 municipalities and welcome families from across Quebec and neighboring provinces to our adoption centre. In the past year alone, more than 2,105 animals found a new home there.
We are currently looking for a Veterinary Technician (Animal Health Technology diploma required) to join our team on a long-term basis.
Description of tasks:
- Welcome and provide care for new animals (vaccinations, deworming, and initial assessments).
- Strictly follow the shelter’s biosecurity protocols.
- Administer prescribed treatments to various species (dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, mice, etc.).
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and medical follow-ups.
- Prepare equipment, monitor anesthesia, and assist during surgeries (spay/neuter procedures, amputations, enucleations, cystotomies, etc.).
- Perform in-house laboratory analyses (cytology, urinalysis, blood tests), collect blood samples, place catheters, and take radiographs.
- Perform diagnostic tests prescribed by the veterinarian, including urinalysis, blood work, ear cytology, and radiographs.
- Perform blood draws and catheter placement.
- Perform dental cleanings on dogs and cats according to established protocols.
Candidate Profile:
- Diploma in Animal Health Technology.
- Strong knowledge of biosecurity protocols and animal welfare practices.
- Attention to detail, autonomy, and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to manage priorities and work under pressure.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
