The SPCA Roussillon is a charitable organization whose mission is to help animals in distress, without owners, or that have been neglected. We provide animal services across a territory of more than 38 municipalities in the region. We welcome families from all over Quebec and neighboring provinces to our adoption center, which enabled more than 2,105 animals to find a home last year.

Customer Service:

  • Always comply with all biosafety protocols in effect at the shelter.
  • Warmly welcome citizens who come to the shelter and respond to their needs.
  • Manage the intake of animals brought in by citizens (surrenders, stray animals, trap captures, wildlife).
  • Assist citizens in the process of reclaiming their animals.
  • Guide potential adopters throughout the adoption process and complete transactions.
  • Ensure that the maintenance of cat rooms and the area dedicated to small domestic animals is carried out properly and in accordance with established protocols.
  • Update profiles of animals available for adoption.
  • Inform, supervise, and support volunteers and foster families.
  • Actively participate in maintenance, cleaning, and laundry tasks for the facilities.
  • Monitor the general health condition of cats in intake areas and report any abnormalities.
  • Stock items for sale, ensure proper presentation, and manage received donations.
  • Contribute to managing the shelter’s social media to attract new adopters and promote animals available for adoption.
  • Perform any other related tasks connected to the responsibilities of the position or requested by management.

Animal Care Attendant:

  • Follow all shelter biosafety protocols at all times.
  • Ensure all cats have water, food, and necessary supplies such as blankets, toys, and clean litter.
  • Ensure all cat rooms are cleaned according to established protocols.
  • Ensure all empty enclosures are disinfected according to protocols and ready to receive a new cat.
  • Perform laundry, cleaning, and disinfection of equipment.
  • Ensure the well-being of the cats.
  • Observe and analyze cats’ behavior and personality.
  • Record health observations for each animal and communicate important information to the medical team.
  • Perform any other related tasks connected to your responsibilities or requested by management.

Required Qualities and Skills:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Training in an animal-related field (an asset).
  • Availability to work every other weekend.
  • Caring and respectful attitude toward all types of animals.
  • At least one year of relevant experience in a similar position (an asset).
  • Strong observational skills, attention to detail, and reliability in task execution.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both French and English, orally and in writing, to provide quality service to both French- and English-speaking clients.
  • Comfortable working in an environment with domestic animals, exotic animals, and wildlife.
